  60. that have a decent repeater and are active in public service events.  I used to 
  61. belong to the Mt. Diablo ARC but I cannot dependably get into their machines 
  62. now from this side of the bay.....

  85. I have tried Super Morse and find that it doesn't hold my interest.  As 
  86. much as I have tried I can't seem to concentrate on it at all.  Like the 
  87. tapes, I have Gordon West and the ARRL code tapes and they don't hold my 
  88. concentrate so I lose interest very quickly.

  215. I happen to have the service manual already for this rig, so I guess it looks
  216. like you don't know what you're talking about, now doesn't it?

  223. Unlike your friend, I know I'm NOT enough of a tech to repair this rig myself,
  224. even with the help of the service manual.

  226. My beef is with ICOM (and so many other companies, especially companies that
  227. deal in micromputer equipment) being completely inadequately staffed or
  228. organized in their service departments.  I don't *mind* paying for long
  229. distance phone calls of whatever duration is necessary to resolve whatever
  230. problem I have.   I don't *mind* paying repair bills to people who know what
  231. they're doing for fixing my equipment.  I *do* mind this senseless being put
  232. on hold for five, ten, fifteen, or twenty minutes (yes, I have been on hold
  233. for 20 minutes before on MY nickle) while my long distance meter's ticking -
  234. because when they finally get around to answering the phone, I *still* have
  235. to pay for the rest of the call.  I would even be perfectly willing to leave
  236. my number so they can call me back *collect* when they have time, but they
  237. don't give me that option.

  409. some store sell one to you for FREE (but you have to subscribe for one
  410. year to a telephone company). Also they are two operators of the GSM in
  411. France (a third one is expected for soon!) so the competition between
  412. them is very hard and the price decrease a lot. For example in the
  413. beginning of the GSM (3 years ago) a such device cost 6000 FF (1 US$
  414. for 6 FF) now you can find some at less than 1000 FF. It's totally
  415. crazy (especially for scanner listenner). Moreover the GSM system is
  416. scrambled so there is no {easy} way to listen them. 
  417.     So I am very surprised to learn that in the US the digital
  418. cellphones are so expensive.

  466. Disney did indeed bail out from managing the QM for the City of Long Beach 
  467. (who actually own her I believe). The Queen has since been reopened with 
  468. free admission for the self guided tours (much like the original 
  469. arrangement) and restaurants and the hotel as revenue sources. The radio 
  470. room is only open part time, I believe during peak tourist times. It was 
  471. closed last time I was aboard. A call to the Queen Mary (don't have the 
  472. number, area code is 310) may help with determining the actual operating 
  473. schedule. Licenses amateurs may operate the station, bring your license.

  570. I have a problem with this sig, I know what a driveway is but I do not generally
  571. drive on a parkway, whatever one of those is. I assume it is the path that goes
  572. through a park? There is a parkway station, but again one would never drive on it
  573. as the roof would collapse.
